About this deal

Nancy knows that her husband Raymond will want to go and fight in the war as much as she will miss him she knows she will be supportive. We’re back at the Buckingham, the incredibly swish, luxury hotel in London’s Mayfair which has been the location for all of my novels so far.

Anthony Paul Beke (born 20 July 1966), known professionally as Anton Du Beke ( / d uː ˈ b ɛ k/), is a British ballroom and Latin dancer, author and television presenter, best known for being a professional dancer and a judge on the BBC One celebrity dancing show Strictly Come Dancing. Yes this is book 5 of the Buckingham series, but you do not need to have read any of the others to delve in and enjoy this book. Whilst the hotel is of course fictional, it is an amalgam of all of the wonderful places I’ve danced over the years – and the remarkable people I’ve met in doing so. Working with my marvellous team, meeting brilliant booksellers and my amazing readers has been a competeand utter delight. It gives me very great pleasure to share with you the details for my upcoming solo tour – ‘ An Audience With Anton Du Beke‘!The full line-up of dates has been released by my publishers – hopefully there’s an event near you… but if not, by the marvels of technology you can still attend virtually as Henley Literature Festival will have a livestream – you can enjoy it from your armchair! If you haven't already read the first three books, you could do yourself a favour and play catch-up prior to diving into this book. As bombs rain down on London in 1940, those employed by the well renowned Buckingham Hotel, do what they can to ensure their guests are kept comfortable. I wish to thank the publisher and Net Galley for an e-copy of this book, which I have reviewed honestly.

When Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain announces that the United Kingdom is at war everything changes for the staff and their families. According to Zaffre, the novel sold over 28,000 copies in hardback, 26,000 in paperback and 10,000 e-books.It wasn't hard at all to fall in love with the characters and find myself hoping and praying for nothing but peace and happiness. There are several different threads to this story, which are all pulled seamlessly together, making it a really enjoyable read. Raymond De Guise is home on leave from Dunkirk and is so busy helping out elsewhere, he’s not striking the right balance with his wife, Nancy.

The book only lost a star for me because I felt the repetition of full names of characters was unnecessary and a little inconsistent.

A year was a long time to wait to read the follow up to A Christmas to Remember but it was worth it.
