Rosa has to try to make them realise that there is room for everyone at Big Sky Mountain and better things can be achieved if every one works together.If you don’t sent a letter back or at least give a sign of life, you shouldn’t be surprised that people are suddenly visiting. The animal characters provide lots of humourous moments and beneath it all there are important messages about the environment too.

Story: City born Rosa has never lived in the forest, and one day a plane drops her off in the middle of one to spend the summer with her Nan.New beginnings and a fresh start is what the book is all about and even though I learned while reading the book that this is book two to a series at no point could I say oh now I am lost. Rosa spots someone parachuting onto the mountains and Grandma Nan insists they find out what or who it is. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. Yes, there was the odd mention of how Hutch still herded the cattle and mended fences even though he had plenty of hired hands to do that, but I felt as though the western/ranching aspect of this book was lost. Then again, rather than being alone, Grandma Nan has constant company, beginning with Albert the moose, whose antlers make it difficult to exit a window!

That being said, I felt there was a bit too much of a focus on Madison for it to feel like a romance novel. Rosa finds her own wildness in Big Sky Mountain as she learns to paddle and steer a canoe and mediates in a war between a grumpy hare, who doesn’t like change and newcomer beavers who have arrived to create a new home on Gold River. Hutch was the one guy she never got over but now he’s got his own set of problems having run out on his own wedding. He wanted her to find his four year old daughter in the USA that was in the foster care system, and raiser her as her own. My favourite character was Nan, but I liked all of them, and there were lots of animals too which is great.I just wish that the book had contained a little more action, (romantic and otherwise), and a little less daily grind. However, there were so many funny and heartwarming moments it was easy to settle back and hang on for the ride. The bear decides that Rosa’s story is worth more than money, that it was a pleasure doing business with her and gives her another jar of honey. With the help of the mountain community, Rosa's investigation leads her to the very summit of Big Sky Mountain, where a family of eagles are facing huge problems of their own. It is an interesting start to the series that will give the reader a wonderful tale of life in the mountains as well as have them giggling with or at the talking animals.
