For example, I learned upon re-purchasing this old favorite that I no longer needed Jack Black's Blue Mark, Ineke's Derring-Do, YSL's L'Homme Libre, and C. works very well with my chemistry everyone loves this when I have it on especially my lady she loves to come in close and sniff my neck. I used to get many compliments wearing it, I found that I could wear it in various situations as well. I have a great deal of respect for fragrances that choose to exercise restraint rather than try to reinvent the wheel. Unfortunately though, there are lots of counterfeits that are almost impossible to spot just by looking at the box or bottle. Mania is like one of those obscure, quaint little restaurants, that don't seem to offer much on the outside and only you and a selective few know about it. I always try to approach all fragrances with the goal of giving an impression of what the scent is like, but the verdict is always subjective - my personal take on the scent.

The fresh and citrusy top accords consist of orange, green mandarin, spicy bay leaf and pink pepper. Avoid the clown show and get a decant if you must know why this is or was Kurkdjian's one-time favorite, before making a really expensive mistake on a full bottle. After a while, the cedarwood became more proeminet, the fragramce became drier and the musk adds creamy-floral and soft sweetness to the overall scent. I was thrilled to find this in an airport duty free earlier this year (it's difficult to find anywhere else! Stays close to the skin but emerges in the most wonderful way as your body temp goes up a little (on a lunch hour walk).

A beautiful, highly elegant scent that is a more spicier version of its younger brother, Emporio Armani Lui. It doesn't strike me as being especially unique or individual, and went on smelling somewhat mass market and uninteresting. Yes, the notes in this fragrance are simple however wearing this fragrance I regard it as sophisticated, interesting and suitable for use at the office or during a night out.

Funny enough, the saffron helps this one being a kind of a predecessor of Baccarat Rouge 560, that came out many years later. It does last on the skin, I couldnt smell it but those around me did and all the remarks were positive. This may not be as popular as Acqua di Gio or Armani Code but that does not take anything away from this cologne.A lot of people complain about it lacking a certain something but to me there is a real level of refinement in Mania that you don't see in a lot of other frags. The dry-down is a light spicy musk that reminds me of the dry down in Azzaro Visit, but lighter and with less punch.
