About this deal

This deck is an absolute home run, and I recommend it without reservation to any Tarot reader or collector. The back of the book also includes a few basic spreads and sample readings, which may be helpful for the beginner reader. I would recommend this deck to all levels of Tarot students and readers - there is something here for everyone. As Kat has stayed away from well-known artworks - the Michelangelos, the da Vincis - to concentrate on lesser-known artists, this section is useful and surprisingly fascinating. Nearly all of the cards are exact reprints of the original deck, although a few missing cards from the original pack have been redrawn in similar style.

If a refund or reimbursement is payable to you, we will transfer the money using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase. Kat Black’s interpretation is both welcoming and modern while remaining true to the original traditions of Rider-Waite.

The Medieval and Renaissance theme is something that is "comforting" to me - something that I seem to be at home with. Made out of strong yet highly recyclable material Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), so that you do not have to worry about your tarot cards being damaged, getting wet or broken. The cards are standard sized with an old-fashioned brown textured pattern for the reversible card back.

The cards are generally worked in neutral tones–a lot of beige and brown–but occasional spots of red, blue, and gold really light up the deck as a whole. I’ve been hearing some say that the inconsistencies were intentional, most notably in the suit of Pentacles, to give the cards an aged look.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. It is fascinating to read that there are twenty layers to each picture (the online version), and that each layer was manipulated to make the picture appear as cohesive as possible. Three swords hang on the wall, points down, next to a bed where a haloed saint lies asleep, with the fourth sword ready at his side. However, I appreciate Waite and Smith’s original version for its symbolism and rely heavily on every detail, the precise coloring of the sky and the clothing worn by the characters, and every little leaf and bird in the backdrop.

Gustav Klimt’s art held a primary position in early 20th century Vienna - a city rich with intellectual, aesthetic and psychological movements that contributed to the formation of modern man. Inside, the cards are perfect for fitting in the hand, and feel wonderful as you hold them; the gold gilt edges give off a cool royal feeling as one listens to and touches the cards during shuffling, choosing and reading. Most contemporary decks will illustrate the Pages/Knaves as to convey feminine energy, but here it’s masculine, little-boyish. It’s damn cool, it satisfies my compelling need for conformity to tradition, and it still manages to do something innovative.
