Now last night she was here for a sleepover, and my daughter came and asked me if they were allowed to take a bath together, swimsuits on. I said no, because it took me by surprise and I had an instinctive "I need to understand this better" reaction. I was a teenager once but let's face it, that was 25 years ago and a different generation. It seems like every time I see something on these forums---CN, FBF, NSF...about a teenager all distraught over having to take a communal shower, it's a boy. I never seem to hear similar worries from girls, or horror stories about their showers in school. Hobart claims that new guidelines from Norfolk council make showers mandatory but there are many schools in Norfolk especially in the cities where there are more muslims indicate that showers are optional and some schools do not allow showering at all.

Participation is compulsory as is a shower after the activity. It is important that arrange of kit suitable for all weathers is available. A sturdy kit bag is also advisable, especially for muddy boots. I'm a bit confused. I do want to allow my daughter to have her own experiences as she grows up, but to put it simply, I don't want her to do anything stupid that could get her into trouble. The scene in Carrie with Sissy Spacek seems to show that they took communals too. There was a girl in junior I often saw with wet hair in the halls, indicating she showered. (Oddly, she's the only girl I remember who had it.)If girls communally showered, why don't they have their "trauma" stories? If they're more modest, if not by nature, then by culture, why do we hear so little from them about their experiences. Maybe they do talk about it as much as males, but it's just on other forums. Anybody have any ideas? 28 Years ago in my comprehensive school we were made to get changed after cross country in the school gymnasium, strip naked with all windows uncovered and walk past the girls in the corridor with just a towel covering our penises to the boys showers.
