About this deal

Dermatologists recommend a minimum of SPF 15 when working indoors and on overcast days, and SPF 30 at all other times. What else should I look for in an SPF moisturiser?

The only little problem I have with this product is that it gives me a slight burning sensation for a few seconds. The sensation chills down in just moments though! My skin is a little sensitive, so maybe, the sensation is a problem only for sensitive skins and as per the claim, I have not noticed any radiance in my skin after 15 days of using the cream, maybe I will have to wait for a few more weeks. Guard your skin against sun damage while hydrating and nourishing it – these are the best SPF moisturisers to buy

This lightweight gel cream is formulated to hydrate and brighten, with vitamin C and magnesium to smooth and energise the look of your skin. The Ren Clean Skincare Radiance Glow Daily Vitamin C Gel Cream promises visibly plumper skin with a more even-looking tone and texture. It's even a great moisturiser for acne-prone skin. Treat yourself to luminosity and glow with Ren, for a radiant, more healthy-looking complexion on all skin types and tones. Ascorbic acid is the most chemically active form of vitamin C. But does that make it the best form of topical vitamin C? Not necessarily. In fact, ascorbic acid is actually the least stable form of vitamin C. This means that ascorbic acid oxidizes the easiest out of all forms of vitamin C. When vitamin C becomes oxidized it loses its potency and ultimately becomes ineffective. Things like sunlight, heat, air, water, and time can all lead to the oxidation of ascorbic acid. Additionally, ascorbic acid causes the most skin irritation out of all forms of vitamin C. This happens because ascorbic acid is an acidic molecule and can only penetrate the skin at a pH of 3.5 or less. Since the normal pH of skin is about 5.5, this low pH can be harsh on the skin. These two factors are important to keep in mind when choosing a vitamin C product from The Body Shop as their Vitamin C Glow Revealing Liquid Peel and Vitamin C Skin Boost Instant Smoother both contain ascorbic acid. What these moisturisers won’t do is provide the same degree of sun protection as the best facial sunscreens, especially for longer periods of UV exposure. It's true that SPF in a moisturiser is tested the same way as SPF in sunscreen, so technically speaking, an SPF 30 moisturiser formula will offer the same level of protection as a facial sun cream with an SPF of 30. However, it all comes down to the application.

Many people believe that having an SPF in their moisturiser will suffice," says consultant dermatologist Dr Justine Kluk. "But, according to the British Association of Dermatologists, moisturiser with an SPF will only help protect you against small amounts of UV exposure, for example, walking to the car." For 24-hour hydration and a radiant complexion, look no further than the Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème. Ole Henriksen makes it super easy to fight dry and dull skin with its vitamin C range and we're totally obsessed with it all. This moisturiser is what dreams are made of. Adored by many, this innovative, peachy-tinted gel crème instantly illuminates and delivers an energizing burst of 24-hour hydration - making it the perfect moisturiser for dehydrated skin. It targets fine lines and wrinkles, renews youthful radiance and firms skin - but that's not all. The C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème even improves make-up application, creating a smooth, hydrated canvas for foundation. A facial sunscreen, on the other hand, only has one job: protect the skin on your face from the sun's rays without worrying about whether it's too moisturiser. Having said that, many sunscreen formulas now are so elegant, it's difficult to know the difference. Vitamin C is legendary in the world of beauty and for good reason, as a natural antioxidant, the vitamin is known to improve skin texture, hydration and elasticity. It is also one of the best anti-ageing ingredients available, promoting collagen production. Vitamin C also works to give your skin strength and prevent premature ageing. Here’s one more reason to use sunscreen containing vitamin C: it also guards your skin against pollution. Sunscreen alone can’t stop the free radicals generated by pollutants from penetrating your skin, but vitamin C comes to the rescue by neutralizing them before damaging your cells. Our favorite vitamin C sunscreens to tryPromotes collagen production - Vitamin C is well known for boosting collagen production, a higher level of collagen prevents premature ageing. This energising NIVEA Q10 Energy Healthy Glow Face Day Cream provides your skin with 24 hours of moisture for more radiant skin with a healthy, energised glow. The formula with vitamin C, vitamin E, and 100% skin-identical Q10 reduces the appearance of fine lines in just two weeks, as well as firming skin, all while reducing dullness and alleviating signs of tiredness. What's more, it contains SPF15 to combat sun damage and works amazingly as a base for makeup - that is, if you don't want to opt for a tinted moisturiser instead. In short, an SPF moisturiser is great for a very basic level of defence against sun-related damage. Protecting against the sun isn't its only function, as it's also doing the job of moisturising, too. So you'll be able to find one that protects you from the sun, whilst also catering to your other skin needs. It's like finding one of the best moisturisers for dry skin and then discovering it has a high SPF. Think soothing dryness, fighting discolouration, in the same vein as a brilliant hyperpigmentation treatment, and diffusing the appearance of wrinkles. If you're feeling a little lazy, travelling and trying to keep products to a minimum or just one of those people who fails to remember to apply your SPF, then these are a good option. Pros: combines a serum with a moisturiser, 20% serum enriched with Vitamin C* & Super Citrus, SPF 25 moisturiser, dermatologically tested, suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin

There’s one more surprise – our new jar is 100% recyclable* and made with recycled glass too. What’s not to love?Hydration – vitamin C is great for helping your skin retain water, with better-hydrated skin your face cream will make your skin feel plumper and smoother. But, vitamin C can also be used in a body moisturiser. Indeed, we also have a guide to the best moisturisers for dry skin at your disposal. Apply your SPF moisturiser in the morning after cleansing and toning, and after your serum if you use one. Your SPF cream’s moisturising benefits won’t stop in the evening, but the SPF protection will be of less use, so you may prefer to use a non-SPF moisturiser at night. Want even, radiant skin that glows? This Garnier Vitamin C Serum Cream combines the benefits of both a brightening serum, with the lasting moisture of a cream, all in an SPF 25 moisturiser. The formula is concentrated with 20 per cent serum enriched with vitamin C and super citrus, in addition to being a moisturiser with SPF, to protect your skin from sun-induced dark spots. It's also worth noting that moisturisers containing an SPF don’t always contain protection against UVA rays, either. "As a result, they will not protect against UV ageing in the same way as a broad-spectrum sunscreen would," stresses Kluk.

What’s more, SPF moisturisers are less likely to be rub-resistant and water-resistant. For these reasons, they won’t offer the same level of protection as the best sun creams," the doctor adds. The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser gives you a helping hit of skin-revitalising and joy-giving radiance every day.
