There is an interesting story to tell about this watch. A friend and colleague once gave Massimo this steel Rolex for his birthday. After a while, Massimo looked at it and decided to silver-plate it. was an important year in Osti's career. He invented and presented Rubber Flax and Rubber Wool – linen and wool with a thin, rubber coating. [4] The rubber made the materials waterproof, improved their resistance and added a totally new look and feel to the garments. In the same year Osti experimented with brushed combed wool for the first time. Today all mills use this procedure for processing woolen textiles, the same process Osti invented in 1987. C.P. Company was founded in 1971 by Bolognese graphic designer Massimo Osti, the man considered by many as the ‘godfather of urban streetwear’. Initially, C.P. was a small apparel brand where Massimo would experiment with the application of cutting edge printing techniques he learned whilst working in the advertising industry onto t-shirts. At the time, placing prints using technologies like CMYK four-color processing and silkscreening was unheard of, so Osti’s small collection of graphic tees was wildly innovative earning him the opportunity to design a full menswear collection.

It’s no wonder that Osti, with his love of all things functional, was drawn to the design and included it in his first collection for Stone Island. The piece differs from the original design by adding a hood and wide cuffs for additional elemental protection. It was also made from Tela Stella.

It hosts over 5.000 pieces, varying from Osti’s earliest prototypes to 60’s Russian spacesuits, and from garment-dyeing lab dips to exclusive print patterns. The extensive fabric and cultural library were collected over a period of 30 years of work, in collaboration with more than 360 fabric companies and laboratories. The archive is still operated by Mrs Facchinato and daughter Agata Osti and for this article, it was the photoshoot decorum. All watches were professionally photographed by Mrs Facchinato, who is a photographer by profession. She was responsible for most of the artwork for the marketing of Osti’s brands during the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, some rare books for C.P. Company, plus the now also sought after C.P. Magazine.
