Hunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton is the second book and conclusion to the Cat & Mouse duet. I reviewed the first book Haunting Adeline last week. The haunting serves as a catalyst for Adeline’s personal growth and self-discovery, pushing her to confront her fears and forge a new path.

As the story progresses, the reader discovers the eerie similarities between Adeline’s past experiences and the unsettling events that unfold around her in the present.I face him, eyeing him closely. He’s relaxed into his seat, his long legs spread, one hand draped over the wheel and the other resting on the armrest between us. And just like she said “only a monster can create another monster” so she becomes one to get her revenge. As she should. There’s a point where the heroine goes to a club and meets this guy, Archie. While she’s at the club, Zade messages her Now I won't deny this book is not for anyone. Either you'll like it, enjoy it or be disgusted and hate it. There's no in between. I went in thinking it's a dark romance but oh boy, it really was dark. Some of the things that happen between Adeline and Zade, I'm glad it's just a work of fiction and nothing more. A significant theme in Haunting Adeline is the exploration of loss and grief. The characters, particularly Adeline, grapple with the pain of their pasts and must confront and resolve their unresolved traumas. The haunting elements of the story serve as metaphors for the emotional weight these characters carry, highlighting the universal nature of loss and the need for healing. Identity and Self-Discovery
