About this deal

Your default water parameters are going to largely determine what species of plants and tropical fish you will be able to keep. Containing micro and macro plant nutrients the Plant and Shrimp Stratum allows excellent root growth which can easily spread through the substrate reaching vital available nutrients resulting in suburb plant growth. Some plants require higher concentrations of light, CO2 and nutrients to grow successfully. If you’re hoping to keep specific plant species, make sure your tank is setup to accommodate them. Plants that require lots of nutrition Fluval Stratum's inherent properties will help support a neutral to slightly acidic pH, ideal for most plant species and species of tropical fish or shrimp normally kept in planted aquariums. Fluval Stratum also provides new born shrimp with the ideal refuge, allowing them to escape predation until they are large enough to emerge.

Fluval Stratum is nothing but little pellets of dirt, and its turning into mud when worked out is understandable. Also, they do not add macro or micronutrients into the water. This doesn’t hurt plants, but it doesn’t benefit them either. A 3-inch depth will make it a little easier for plants to grow and will also provide them with more nutrients if you choose to use aqua soils. Can you grow aquarium plants without substrate? All parcels require a signature upon delivery, meaning that our courier is unable to leave an item without a signature. A substrate is considered “active” if it changes a tank’s water chemistry. Specifically, they contain macronutrients such as nitrogen, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus; and micronutrients such as iron, manganese, copper and zinc. Aqua soils The downside is that it’s incredibly messy and will cause very cloudy water if it’s disturbed in even a minor way. Also, it’s high nutrition value can cause algae blooms if it’s not properly balanced with appropriate lighting and CO2. If you give your aquarium around two weeks time to work together with the new Fluval Stratum and fresh plants, you will ensure a calm, unexcited, stable ecosystem, as the small shrimp like it. Here too, the floor substrate shows its strengths to the full. Freshly hatched shrimps are the perfect retreat and the ideal hiding place.

If you are worried about the fish waste and dirt collecting over the top inch of the substrate, and you must clean it, siphon it off. Q. How long does Fluval Stratum last? Fluval Stratum is a great, nutrient-rich substrate that can be used in both low-tech and high-tech tanks. It contains all macronutrients and many important micronutrients. This means it leaches ammonia into the water column so you’ll need to make sure you establish a biological filter before adding fish. Eco-Complete contains some macronutrients, such as calcium, magnesium and potassium. And it also contains many micronutrients as well, which help with plant growth.Because of the Fluval Stratum's properties to natural supports a neutral to slightly acidic pH which is ideal for most tropical fish, shrimp, and plants. Plant and Shrimp Stratum by Fluval is an incredibly porous mineral-rich substrate collected from the foothills of a volcano, Mount Aso in Japan. Alternatively, you could use gravel as a base layer with sand on top. This would allow roots to grow more successfully beneath the layer of sand. Can I mix gravel and soil substrate? It will help deflect the water from directly hitting the substrate. This way, the water will gently disperse over the tank without causing any disturbance to Fluval Stratum.
