About this deal

So why do we need detectors with fast recovery rate? Simply to allow the machine to separate targets close to one another. This can be two solid targets next to each other (e.g. nail and coin) allowing the detector to analyse each target individually. Or to stop a target’s response being blanked-out (swamping out) by ferrous materials in the ground ( Feoxides). The Equinox 600 works on four different frequencies, single frequencies of 5 kHz, 10 kHz, and 15 kHz as well as multi-frequency mode. It's worth noting that the frequencies of 20 kHz and 40 kHz can't be used inpidually; however, in multi-IQ mode, the choice becomes viable. Search Modes

The Equinox 600 provides excellent performance for the majority of hobbyists. Serious gold prospectors that need every advantage they can get when it comes to finding gold nuggets will benefit from using the Equinox 800 ( full review). Conclusion In-built loudspeaker, wired 3.5mm (1/8") headphones (included) • Bluetooth compatible • WM 08 Wi-Stream compatible Most of the confusion I have seen online revolves around Minelab’s new Multi-IQ simultaneous multi-frequency technology and the frequencies employed by the two detectors. The EQUINOX 600 is limited to 5 kHz, 10 kHz, and 15 kHz single frequencies, while the EQUINOX 800 also offers these plus the additional higher frequencies of 20 kHz and 40 kHz. This does not mean that the 600 is not employing the full multi-frequency range as part of the Multi-IQ processing. Multi-frequency operation is identical in the two models and provides the same maximum signal response to targets in Park, Field and Beach Detect Modes., The real magic of EQUINOX is in the Multi-IQ technology (not the single frequencies), therefore you can rest assured the EQUINOX 600 matches the EQUINOX 800 in this regard. The bottom line? The EQUINOX 600 is really all most normal people would likely need and even then it has more features than most detectors. The hard-core detectorists who want the extra features on the 800 generally know who they are. The key thing is that, with rare exceptions mostly involving gold prospecting, both models are equally capable and will both locate the vast majority of targets equally well. The EQUINOX 600 really is a powerhouse at an incredibly low price. The good news is that if you just can’t make up your mind, the EQUINOX 800 really is not all that much more! EQX 06 – a 6″ round Double-D search-coil for hunting in areas filled with trash and sensitive to small targets. It also works well in difficult terrain.

Fast & Accurate Target ID

Still, the dividing line between the 600/700 and 800/900 comes down to a more advanced set of features around customization and the expanded gold mode. . Specifications of Equinox Comparison The Equinox 600 seems to look like the Equinox 800 in appearance, but its differences lie in its features.

If the need to detect gold nuggets is a seldom activity for you, then the Minelab Equinox 600 is an okay fit. It serves to detect gold well, better than other multi-purpose detectors you might find in the market. However, Equinox 800 might be a better fit if detecting gold nuggets is what you do regularly. Equinoxes’ key difference is that the Equinox 800 has a gold mode with enhanced performance on detecting small gold nuggets. 4. How deep can the Minelab Equinox 600 detect? When combined with the 50 segment Target ID system, it's fairly easy to know what you are detecting. Wireless Audio So, if you want the great performance from your detector but looking at a slightly lower price point the EQUINOX 600 will suit perfectly all your needs. You can also use the Equinox 600 to find treasures as deep as 10 feet (3 meters) below the surf. 3. Wireless AudioWaterproof for up to 3 meters, the Equinox is ideal for detecting in rivers, lakes and surf, or snorkeling in shallows.

The Minelab’s Equinox 600 has a sleek, rugged construction that allows you to enjoy long hunting in any environment. It also comes with rechargeable batteries; you don’t have to worry about being left high and dry while you’re on the field. Noteworthy are the different settings for different search modes (which I have dubbed “terrain” for comprehensibility sake earlier in this review). All the modes – field, park, and beach – have two settings. All these features make this piece of equipment really worth your attention. As it becomes obvious, the item is equipped with all necessary features for productive and successful search. At the same time, it does not require extreme experience in the hobby, because half of the settings are automatic, and another half are pretty easy to make head or tail of. With these specs, Equinox 600 seems to exceed a lot of products available out there on the market, and yet, it is available for reasonable money (so you don’t need to sell your kidney). The best feature is, of course, its Multi frequency, so we have to discuss it separately. Multi-IQ Technology Another special feature of the Minelab Equinox 800 is its ability to bypass false signals. While looking for lost metal pieces, you will rarely experience interferences from power lines or electronic devices in your vicinity. Things you need to consider

If you are upgrading from a 600, Vanquish, or single-frequency machine, then the upgrade to the 700 or 900 is likely worth the spend. In these situations the machine has become so noisy with false signals and corrupted target responses, you would’ve been better off leaving the machine in factory settings.... which by the way were designed by Minelab’s testers to give new users a head-start. The Iron Bias setting is used when you encounter ground conditions with heavy iron trash. By increasing the Iron Bias setting you can effectively shut out some of the iron masking that cold be keeping those non-ferrous targets from being heard. By default some Equinox search profiles already turn this feature on for you. This is shown in the table below titled, “ Search Profiles: Default Iron Bias Settings for the Equinox 600 and 800“.

Compatible with ultra-fast wireless audio with the WM 08, and fast aptX Low Latency / Bluetooth headphones. The main differences are in the advanced fine-tuning settings, where the Equinox 800 has an advantage in. In addition, the Minelab Equinox 800 has a Gold Detect Mode, which the Equinox 600 does not. The Equinox 800 can use the 20 kHz and 40 kHz separately or simultaneously using Multi-IQ mode, while the Equinox 600 only uses them in Multi-IQ mode. Park mode is the most versatile for general detecting and in high trash areas such as parks and public places. The EQUINOX Series features both the 600 and the 800 but there is very little difference between them, in fact it literally only comes down to some features in the settings and the Audio options.
