(Yes, it is somewhat of a cliché, the life-changing-magic-of-books, the ability to learn from stories and apply them to one's life, but it is well executed throughout The Reading List.) Mukesh reconnects with his granddaughter, finding unexpected joy in the books they read together, and Aleisha finds her mother coming out of her shell to enjoy the books she brings home from the library. Things appear to be getting better for both of our protagonists.
