I think I would have found this to be a more compelling story if the narrative had focused exclusively on the mother-daughter relationship but neither of these characters struck me as particularly fleshed out. Someone who looks like my daughter, who could be my daughter, is waving her arms over her head trying to rally support. Her husband’s dead, all she has is a crumbling home, and an exhausting, insecure, low-paid job as a carer in a facility for the elderly.It tells the story of prejudices LGBTQ+ face even in prosperous and "advanced" countries like SK and how they are oppressed and silenced. Her daughter who now goes by the name “Green” works as an itinerant lecturer, and without a steady job, she is ineligible for a loan or public housing. But when Green turns up with her girlfriend, Lane, in tow, her mother is unprepared and unwilling to welcome Lane into her home.
