Some subtler changes are displayed, such as the difference in police helmets between Scotland and England in the chapter relating to Berwick Rangers. He is a cobwebbed and dusty expert on newspaper and magazine archives and creates books, mainly drawing upon the extensive material in the DC Thomson archive. These are the places where your Grandfather, Father, Uncles, Brothers and friends exulted and cursed. As the veteran journalist Chick Young says in the foreword, these are photos of the “good old, bad old days”. The aim is to celebrate the experiences of standing in a swaying, tight-packed, excited/angry/celebrating/commiserating/local-derby-fevered football crowd.

I think there is a book out there still to be written about football teams and their Grounds in the 1960s, 70s, and perhaps 80s before big money and T. Hallewell Publications is a small publishing house based in Argyll which concentrates largely on a single project: a popular series of walking guides which covers Scotland and selected areas of England.
