Description

From helping you land bigger media opportunities, generate more leads for your business or attract top talent, Glow in the Dark is a refreshingly practical and thought provoking book on why everyone has a powerful story worth telling, and how owning and sharing your story can have a transformative impact on your life and business beyond your wildest imagination. As Tara explains, healing is not a linear process and you can’t hustle your way through life. But, if you are: But listen. It's all part of being your best you. And, truly, it's all going to come out at some point, so you might as well manage this shit.

I loved that she brought to her readers’ attention that even after writing Lilies, she has had moments where she has faltered. I love the realness that she shows in these moments, rather than let her readers believe that she leads a perfect life because of her practices as many self-help authors seem to do. Most people are afraid of what others might think or say if they showed up as their true authentic selves. Especially in a business or professional context. That’s why too many of us are terrified of sharing our story authentically in public and struggle to make a lasting impact when introducing ourselves. Mark Leruste ( @markleruste) is on a mission to help one million entrepreneurs and business leaders impact the world with their story.

When I was reading this book, I was actively comparing it to the show itself because I thought it would help me be able to review this book even better. I just found out today that they adapted the episodes to read to children before bed. It was inspiring when the author approached the serious healing topics in a funny and lighthearted way, but I felt that the author was trying so hard to be funny in some parts, and I could not bring myself to like it. I was given a free, digital ARC of this book by NetGalley. All thoughts expressed here are my own.]

I'm glad photo evidence exists of this tour, mostly because I did not catch it. Hearing Kanye West and Spike Jonez talk about, I get some sense of it, while a great deal is left the imagination. I found it most valuable to read the book and then talk to a friend who had been able to catch the tour. Even still, the book itself is no great work. If you're not dealing with the thing you know you need to deal with, it's dealing with you. And it's likely that the people around dealing with it too.” Mark’s work has appeared in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph, Metro and his TEDx talk has been watched over a million times and was listed as the #1 TED talk on entrepreneurship to watch by Steven Bartlett (host of the Diary of a CEO podcast and a Dragon on Dragon’s Den). Now everything I say, they feel like it's because I've grown crazy because of the situations I've been through - my mom passing other relationships that I got out of. It's not that I've gone crazy semi; I just don't feel like I have anything to lose, so I might as well express exactly what I feel." Glow in the Dark: Voyage Through Space by Katy Flint is a gorgeously illustrated, fact & theory filled book, certain to enchant all elementary-aged budding scientists and those children eager to read "all the space books." Bonus points for this book for having a girl character as the astronaut! That's something STEM-loving little girls will absolutely not miss and will love! But what if you could make a connection instantly, effortlessly engaging your audience every time you introduced yourself and the work that you do, be it on stage, at work or on a podcast? And more importantly, what if you could get people to care about and pay attention to what you had to say, share or sell? note: this book is still incredible popular, it’s just an underrated gem compared to the other two. The tour's plot was Kanye crashing onto a planet and exploring it, during which he even encounters a monster built by Jim Henson's workshop.

Come explore with the girl and her dog as we travel from the sun (hot hot hot) to the last one, the Kuiper Belt (which features Pluto). I loved finding the girl in the illustrations, sometimes she was quite tiny so you had to look around. I loved that she at times, if the planet allowed it, was seen stepping on the planet. And at times she was just sitting and relaxing on an asteroid. OMG, this was even better than I had hoped. What I had expected (given the cover): lots of gorgeous space photography as we travel our universe. Instead we travel the universe with a sweet girl, her dog, and absolutely stunning illustrations! In her books, Tara uses a memoir style to show her readers her own vulnerability and imperfections. She states several times throughout the book that she is not an expert but cites the research she has done, credits the experts that she has found help her, and even encourages the reader to read those experts’ books. With showing her imperfections, she make it easier to relate to her readers and shows that she is still working towards making herself better every day.
