We zien hoe de nieuwe studenten Aisha en Musa voor het eerst Alfea ontdekken, we leren meer over wat er gebeurd is tussen Terra en Riven, we lezen hoe Farah voor het eerst op zoek gaat naar Bloom (ook al weet ze op dit moment nog niet dat Bloom hetgeen is wat ze zoekt) en we krijgen een inkijkje in Stella's leven voordat de meiden samen gaan wonen in het nieuwe schooljaar. The book itself wasn’t bad, but I felt like it left a lot to be desired. Rather than taking the story from the show and fleshing it out, adding more details to make it feel more like a novel, the script was basically copied and pasted into a book. The author does add some small descriptions, thoughts, etc. but besides the first small chapter, there’s nothing new added. None of the things glossed over in the show were elaborated on in the book version. Everything that felt rushed on TV felt just as rushed in a book. This isn’t how I usually feel things play out. They have to condense for TV/Movies, but books tend to give you more of the details and have better pacing. I guess this is a shortcoming of having a book based on a show rather than the other way around. Young added, "The benefit of a season 2 show is it gives you the ability to sort of expand the things that made season 1 great. We had more second-unit days, we had more VFX, more everything to be completely honest. We were able to really make the VFX sing to make the show feel like it's the best version of itself that it can be." With some VFX help and some clever filming, we're able to fill out our world."
