Stain Removal: Remove any stains promptly, most common stainse.g. dirt, ketchup, mustard, tea, coffee can be removed using a softcloth and warm soapy water. Do not use scourers or abrasive cleanersas these may mark the paint finish. Obviously, a floor that is well prepped and painted and has low traffic will last longer. And even after a couple of years you are unlikely to need to repaint the whole floor, just the areas that get a lot of use. A Drying Time: Touch dry in 1 hour. Handle after 4 hours. Apply a second coat after 4 hours, if necessary. Full hardness after 4 hours. Preparation: For best results, ensure surface is clean and free from wax or oil. If wax has been used clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit. We recommend that bare wood, previously painted or varnished surfaces should be sanded before painting. Ensure new concrete is sound, fully cured and free from laitance.

Now vacuum the floor to get rid of as much dust and debris as possible. The final part of the prep is to clean the floorboards. Use a mop and liquid detergent (as instructed). Then rinse with the mop and clean warm water and leave to dry for at least 24 hours. Use a primer or specialist paint to cover any knots or stains. Free sachet delivery is available on all Rust-Oleum sachets. These are shipped direct from the manufacturer using Whistl. Can take 5-10 working days. Coverage: Up to 12m²/l per coat. Coverage may vary depending uponmethod and rate of application and porosity of surface.Cover new ground by adding a classic low sheen chalk finish to your flooring for a contemporary refresh. This will depend on a number of factors including how well the floorboards were prepped, what paint was used and how much traffic the floor can expect. But a rough estimation is around two years. Application: Stir thoroughly prior to use. The product may be appliedby brush or medium pile roller. Coverage: Up to 14m2 / litre. Coverage may vary depending upon method and rate of application and porosity of surface.

Finally, adding an extra coat of your chosen paint or a clear matt varnish can give your floorboard paint a longer life. What's the Best Floor Paint? Application: Stir thoroughly prior to use. The product may be applied by brush or roller. If applying by bush, apply evenly following the grain of the wood. If rollering, use a nap mohair roller. To create a distressed look apply two coats in contrasting colours. Allow to dry then lightly abrade with moistened sand paper or a stainless steel scouring pad - abrade with the grain of the wood. Protect the effect with Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax. Drying Time: Touch dry in 2 hours. Apply a second coat after 2 hoursif necessary. Hard dry in 4 hours, full hardness achieved after 7 days. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings. Clean Up: Remove as much product as possible from applicationequipment before washing with water. Two coats are recommended. After you have finished preparing your floorboards you need to think about draughts. If you can live with the draught that comes up between the gaps in your floorboards then leave. But it makes much more sense to seal the gap to stop cold draughts and keep your heating bills down. Preparation: For best results, ensure surface is clean and free from wax or oil. If wax has been used clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit. We recommend that bare wood should be sanded before painting.
