And since then it's skipped during a much more recent recording, it was an episode in the latest series of 'bakeoff' I'd had on series record. It was unwatchable. The problem i have is that come what may i cannot seem to control the sound via the sound control on the Humax remote control. I have to revert to using the tv remote to change the sound which is v annoying.

So would I expect my drive, when formatted by my laptop and then reinstalled, to be formatted again in the Humax? (I realise that the formatting done is different when done in the PVR). OK, I obviously don't understand the theory behind this. If I do a full format using my laptop, then the Humax does it's own, won't that undo any good work the full format has done? Have a problem with your product and don't know what's wrong? Fear not, we're here to help. Get in touch by: Manually tuning to get the best out of a 9300T isn't just a case of selecting manual tuning from the menus and trying it out, some people can actually make it worse! For manual tuning instructions see https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/week-old-9300t-and-epg-wont-fill-up-for-week#post-7097.

I do the manual search per the users manual. My aerial is pointing at the Rowridge transmitter so I key in the codes 24,27,25,22,28 and search and save in turn. I have also tried the Default setting method but this is really an auto tune and doesn't seem to work as well.

I must admit I haven't actually tried formatting the drive. I didn't want to lose any recorded programs but my father tells me there is nothing he is worried about losing so will try a reformat of the existing drive first before buying a replacement However, there are restrictions – if you’re recording two channels on different multiplexes, then you can only watch a third channel if it’s on the same multiplex as one of the channels being recorded. But if you’re recording two channels on the same multiplex, then you can watch a third channel from any multiplex. It sounds complicated, but trust us, it’s a very useful feature. There are three varieties of what people call the skipping problem. Doing a "Humax" format will help with one of them.Something that tech support don't know aout has little value for the owners of this unit when it fails The 9300T uses a proprietary disk format, it is not the same as ext3 (or etc3 as you seemed to have renamed it). The boot sector will not be recognised by Windows because the Humax processor is big endian and all data written to the disk is in this format. Can the system format a new unpartitioned drive or do I need to run a linux Live CD and partition and format the drive first? Other channels like Dave and Sky News come and go all the time. One week I have them, the next week I don't.

You're left with unofficial versions out of the goodness of people's hearts and no guarantee that the link is valid. Well, the wait is over with the launch of this model, which hopefully builds on the brilliance of its predecessor. Also, do I simply remove, reformat and replace the drive, power up, reset to factory settings and go from there or do I somehow need to restore some software? E.g. where is the Loader stored? If on the disk, how do I restore it? I found that i had no sound at all which is why i had to use the audio cable. With the two cables combined I had a perfect picture and sound was controlled using the 9300 controller. All i used the TV controller for was turning it on and off and selecting source if needed. I have worked on and upgraded several Tivo Mk1 boxes but not opened a Humax PVR so will be interested to see how it works.

The usual PVR functions are fitted too, such as live pause, instant replay, watch while recording and even record two channels while watching a third off the hard-disk. You program the remote with a code to operate your Tv and this differs according to the make of your Tv...there should be a code list somewhere in the user manual and instructions for how to set it up, obviously you'll need the code for Samsung. I'm reasonably computer savvy, just wanting to preempt any problems before I hit them, so any advice is welcome.

Re Colins point, I definitely receive signals from other transmitters: Some Central from The Wrekin and occasional Welsh stuff. If I try to auto-tune on a bad Winter Hill day the others can tend to take over the 1,2,3, & 4 slots. There are a number of 800 slots in the setup.

Welcome Guest

Note: If your receiver is connected to a TV that does not support compressed audio using a HDMI cable, I have read on these forums about a command line utility which can run on Windows to copy recordings but ideally unless the drive is completely shot would like to copy them to the new drive. Is this fairly easy to do from a Linux live CD? When recorded onto the hard disk, programmes look exactly the same as the live broadcast thanks to the use of a single high-bitrate recording mode. So a better internal format utility and some built in maintenance routines would go a long way towards getting maximum value out of HDDs A bought this PVR four weeks ago and am pleased with its performance. However I have had a few mishaps, the system has frozen on three occasions and yesterday for the first time I had break up in a recorded programme. The latter may be due to signal strength because I've found the PVR wasn't using the best signal (for BBC1).
